RESULTS Al Hilal vs Al Ittihad in the first leg of the 2023-2024 Asian Champions League quarter-finals will be reviewed in this article. Tigers of Asia – nicknamed Al Ittihad – fell with a score of 0-2.

The Al Hilal vs Al Ittihad duel was held at the Kingdom Arena Stadium, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Wednesday (6/3/2024) early morning WIB. Al Ittihad was forced to play with just 10 people from the 66th minute because their star player, NGolo Kante, was given a red card by the referee.

Al Hilal also succeeded in making good use of this condition to achieve victory. Al Hilal’s goals were scored by Aleksandar Mitrovic (40′ P) and also Salem Aldawsari (42′).

The Course of the Match

First round

The duel was tough in the first half. The two teams, who both performed well, continued to take turns attacking the opponent’s defense line.

Al Hilal and Al Ittihad also got a number of opportunities, but unfortunately they failed to bear fruit. Until the match reached the 25th minute, no goals had been scored.

Al Hilal was finally able to break the deadlock in the 40th minute because they were awarded a penalty by the referee. The referee took this decision because Mitrovic received a violation in the forbidden box after being knocked down by an Al Ittihad player while fighting for the ball.

Mitrovic then stepped up as the penalty taker. With his calm, he was able to score a goal that put Al Hilal ahead 1-0.

Two minutes later, Al Hilal added another goal. This time, it was Salem Aldawsari who got his name on the scoreboard after using a cool pass from Malcom. The 2-0 score lasted until the end of the first half.

Second round

In the second half, Al Ittihad tried hard to get back up. They also put pressure on their opponents from the start of the match in order to catch up.

But unfortunately, Al Ittihad’s efforts failed to bear fruit. Instead of scoring a goal, Al Ittihad actually suffered a disaster because they had to play with only 10 people.

Precisely in the 60th minute, the referee gave Kante a red card after committing a hard foul on Kalidou Koulibaly. After checking VAR, Kante was carded and had to leave the field.

Playing with only 10 people, Al Ittihad could still intensively spread attacks on the opponent’s goal. But unfortunately, their efforts did not bear sweet fruit until the end of the match. The 2-0 score for Al Hilal’s victory lasted until the end of the match.
