China News Service, August 11 (AFP) According to a report from Algeria’s National Television, dozens of forest fires in Algeria have killed at least 65 people, 28 of whom were soldiers involved in the rescue.

According to the report, “the death toll caused by the forest fire has risen to 65, including 28 soldiers and 37 civilians. Most of the dead came from the Tiziwuzu area east of the capital.”

Algerian TV added that another 12 soldiers were “in a critical condition in the hospital.”

Algerian National Television previously reported that fires broke out in several areas of the country on August 9 almost simultaneously. The Civil Defense Department of Algeria reported that it was fighting 31 fires, 10 of which were located in Tizi Ouzou Province in the east of the capital, which is famous for its mountain villages and vast forests.
