Amnesty International closes its Hong Kong offices: “Too difficult to work here”

BEIJING – “It is increasingly difficult for us to continue operating in such an unstable environment”. Amnesty International says goodbye to Hong Kong. The NGO made it known this morning with a statement on its website that on October 31 it will close its local section in the former British colony, while the regional office (which deals with Southeast Asia and the Pacific) will no longer be operational by the end of the year.
