The publication of Amnesty international’s annual report for 2020, which contains an in-depth analysis of global trends in human rights in 149 states, paints a picture once again, and probably even more than other times, worrying, if not dramatic. . “The pandemic has brutally exposed and exacerbated inequalities within states and between states and highlighted the incredible contempt our leaders display for our common humanity. Decades of divisive policies, wrong austerity measures and choices not to invest in shaky public structures have meant that many ended up being easy prey to the virus, ”said Agnès Callamard, new general secretary of Amnesty International.
