LUGANO – A request for apologies and compensation has been addressed to Swiss, guilty – according to the appellants – of having allowed a real condition of apartheid for seasonal workers. Mostly Italians, but also Spaniards, Portuguese and ex-Yugoslavia. Against the Swiss authorities – accused of turning a blind eye to the reduction to “subhumans”, or to men of a lower level, of tens of thousands of people, including children – she lashed out the treasure associationfounded in October 2001 and chaired by Paola De Martindaughter of Italian seasonal workers and today a professor at the University of the Arts and at the Zurich Polytechnic.
