BFA is a non-governmental and non-profit organization, a dialogue platform for governments, businesses, experts and scholars to discuss the most pressing issues in Asia and around the world. Chairman is Ban Ki Moon, in March 2018 Romano Prodi became the only European member of the Board. Deputy chairman is Zhou Xiaochuan, former Central Bank Governor.
The Annual Conference, in particular, promotes cooperation and coordination between the countries of Asia and between Asia and the rest of the world, promoting corporate and institutional networking. Every year heads of state intervene in Boao in front of over 2 thousand delegates.
The Italian participation
The Italian delegation to the Boao Forum for Asia from 2017 onwards has grown considerably. The entrepreneurial and institutional presence again this year despite the severe limitations to international mobility was considerable, at the forefront of Chiesi Farmaceutici, Danieli & C. Officine Meccaniche, Fincantieri, Red Gate Asset Management, Snam, Santoni.

The Italian team is organized by The European House – Ambrosetti which with the Boao Forum for Asia formalized a memorandum of understanding on 9 July 2018 in Beijing with the aim of launching a new Europe – China platform.
