Beijing Olympics, the US announces a political boycott

by admin

FROM THE CORRESPONDENT TO WASHINGTON. There will be no American officials or diplomats at the Beijing Winter Olympics. The White House made it known, arguing that the move is dictated by Beijing’s lack of respect for human rights.

The American president said that the US will not fail to support athletes in every form. The decision was in the air, two weeks ago the intention to launch the boycott was filtered, which is now taking place. The decision comes in the week that Biden called the Democracy Summit. About a hundred countries are involved in the event – strictly online. Biden will open and close business on Thursday and Friday. No invitation was sent to China (and Russia). Instead, there will be Taiwan, a move that has angered Beijing.
