After years of neighborhood committee battles, thousands of evicted people and those who have been pushed back to the suburbs by a monstrous housing bubble that has plagued the capital over the past 20 years, 56.4% of Berliners voted in favor of a sensational referendum which, if accepted by the Constitutional Court, could force all the giants of the sector with over three thousand apartments to sell them to a public holding, the Anstalt des oeffentlichen Rechts (Aoer).
