WASHINGTON – From G20 to COP 26 “Italy and the United States have many opportunities to strengthen their relations”: said the foreign minister Luigi Di Maio meeting the Secretary of State at the US Department of State Antony Blink.
Blinken said he was honored to receive Di Maio: “He is the foreign prime minister that I am pleased to receive at the State Department”, underlined the head of US diplomacy, stating that “Italy and the United States are working in different forms and different levels to strengthen the perspectives of their own populations “.
Blinken also recalled the 160 years of relations between the two countries: “A beautiful story”, he underlined.
Finally, the US secretary of state explained how at the center of the talks with Di Maio are the themes of security – from Libya to Ukraine to Afghanistan – and common challenges such as the pandemic and the fight against climate change.
