LONDON – A “Great Game” can be seen on the entry of Sweden and Finland into NATO. Protagonists: Russia, Turkey and the United States. It is not certain that it will end positively but it could be the key to defusing tension in Europe. And, perhaps, to contribute to a future agreement to end the war in Ukraine as well.

The first move is by Turkey, which in recent days has announced military operations to hit the bases in northern Syria of groups linked to the PKK, a Kurdish party considered a terrorist organization by Ankara.
