In four years you have doubled your votes. Satisfied?
“We have certainly won consensus. But we didn’t get as far as we wanted. We were ready to lead Germany towards a true modernization, we did not succeed. But the direction is right. And now we want to make a policy for all Germans, which will make the country make a qualitative leap ».
Someone says you got the wrong candidate: Habeck would have been more welcome than Baerbock. Do you share?
«Surely Annalena made mistakes, she apologized and today she regrets them even more. But if you think that about 70% of the fake news have been directed against us and that the campaigns of big industries have lined up against us, it was a tough fight ».
What does it mean that you will only support a “green government”?
«In Germany it is necessary to exert pressure to transform entire sectors (infrastructure, housing, agriculture, industry) in the direction of sustainability. We must get out of coal before 2038, multiply renewable energies, extend what we have already experienced in Baden-Württemberg, that is, compulsive photovoltaics and eco-friendly buildings ».
Will you ask the partners for Habeck’s vice-chancellor post?
“Now there is no mention of ministries or deputies. They are just speculations ».
You have promised 50 billion in investments a year in the “green”. An essential figure or are you ready to negotiate?
“We don’t focus on numbers. We ask for investments in infrastructure, digital and climate. We will participate in a government only if it strengthens social cohesion and modernizes the country. We have to sit at the tables, understand in which direction Germany will go ».
The policy of the liberals is in favor of austerity of accounts, an issue that among other things frightens Italy. How does it fit in with yours?
«Liberals are not ready for solidarity within the EU, one of the important themes of our politics. Let’s see where we will meet. One of the most difficult points to negotiate with the FDP is fiscal policy. We in general are not in favor of new debts, but they can be done to modernize: we want to make sure that EU states with high debt invest in infrastructure that makes economies ready to protect the climate, respect the rule of law and fight corruption “.
Are you ruling out a coalition with the CDU?
