News from Civil Aviation Resources Network on June 29, 2021:The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government announced on the 28th that it will implement a regional flight circuit breaker mechanism for the United Kingdom. From Thursday (July 1), all civil aircraft arriving in Hong Kong will be banned from landing in Hong Kong.At the same time, the United Kingdom is listed as a very high risk (group A1) designated area, and people who have stayed in the area for more than two hours are restricted from boarding civil airliners coming to Hong Kong.

The recent outbreak in the UK has continued to rebound and the Delta mutant virus strain has spread widely. In the past few days, Hong Kong has continuously recorded imported cases from the UK with a mutant virus strain, triggering the circuit breaker mechanism. Therefore, the SAR government decided to classify the UK as a very high risk (Group A1) Specify the area.

Cathay Pacific said,Cathay Pacific will suspend passenger flights from London Heathrow to Hong Kong until further notice. However, passenger flights from Hong Kong to London Heathrow will not be affected, Cathay Pacific is informing all affected passengers to arrange refunds or provide other flight arrangements.Cathay Pacific had predicted at an analyst meeting last Friday that the demand for British students would be favorable to passenger demand in the third quarter, but the Hong Kong government’s latest ban on flights has frustrated Cathay’s plan.

Following the UK’s series of anti-epidemic measures and mass vaccinations, in April and May this year, it relaxed the admission of people who have stayed in the UK. Restrictions include allowing Hong Kong residents to return to Hong Kong via designated flights in April, and reducing the UK to a very high-risk area (specified areas in Group A2) from May 7th, and reducing the UK to a higher level from June 4th Risk area.

The regions where the Hong Kong Government has implemented the “fuse mechanism” for regional flights includeIndia, Pakistan, Philippines, Nepal and Indonesia.
