China and the United States team up together at the World Table Tennis Championships

BEIJING – A small gesture, still on the ping pong table, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of that historic visit of American athletes to China which started the thawing of relations between Washington and Beijing. Relations, now, back more tense than ever. At the world championships that open today in Houston, Chinese and Americans, in fact, will play together, in the mixed doubles.
