Beijing – The death toll from the 6.4 magnitude earthquake that struck the Yunnan region in southwest China yesterday is three dead and 27 injured. This was reported by the official media of the Asian giant after the quake that was recorded last night in Yangbi Yi county, near the city of Dali, at a depth of 10 kilometers, according to data from the China Earthquake Networks Center. Strong tremors were felt in Dali, as well as in the capital Kunming, and in the neighboring province of Sichuan, as reported by the official Xinhua news agency which speaks of consequences for over 72,300 inhabitants and about 21,000 homes. More than 20,000 people have been evacuated from their homes in Yunnan province
A few hours later, a 7.4 magnitude quake struck the northwestern province of Qinghai.
Road damage has been reported and at least two bridges have collapsed, but there are no reports of casualties in this province.
