[NTD, Beijing time, July 14, 2022]The epidemic situation in Lanzhou City, Gansu Province continues to heat up. So far, there are 54 medium and high risk areas, and community transmission has occurred. The authorities announced that all communities will be under closed management. Citizens complained that there were only potatoes left for vegetables at home.

Lanzhou officially reported that as of 10:00 a.m. on July 14, a total of 193 local infections had been reported in the city, including 157 in Chengguan District and 23 in Anning District. The actual number of infected people is still to be verified.

Officials say that this outbreak is a highly contagious Omicron variant with a short intergenerational transmission interval and a fast transmission speed. Community transmission has occurred, and the epidemic is on the rise. At present, there are 25 high-risk areas and 29 medium-risk areas.

Mr. Zhong, a Lanzhou citizen: “I do nucleic acid every day. I did it last night, and I did it again early this morning. This time, especially the epidemic in Lanzhou has mutated, and the virus has mutated. Anyway, people are panicking.”

Since the 11th, Lanzhou has implemented a one-week temporary control in four districts including Chengguan District and Anning District. In the early morning of the 13th, a notification was issued again, and closed management was implemented for all communities. People are not allowed to enter or leave Lanzhou unless necessary. All public venues in the city are temporarily closed. There is only one entrance and exit in the low-risk area, and 24-hour duty is implemented. Residents can only go out to buy daily necessities per household with the access card.

Mr. Guo, a citizen of Lanzhou: “The control is very strict. Now the community can’t go out and can only be active in the yard. Then the shops are closed, that is, the city is closed. Now there is a saying that the mainland is Xinjiang, and Hong Kong is inland. You can control it whenever you want. The weather is hot, and you can’t store the food when you buy it. You can buy it in the small store in the yard, but the price is high, which is 30% higher than online.”

Residents of Anning District said that the control is very strict, and they can only shop in the community for 20 minutes, and the vegetables at home are only potatoes.

Mr. Zhong, a citizen of Lanzhou: “The control is very strong. All the communities are closed, and you can’t travel. You are only allowed to shop once a day, and the time is limited to 20 minutes. In special cases, a certificate must be issued in the community, as well as a certificate from the unit. Anyway, the control is very strict, and the Anning District is the hardest hit area. The old family can’t do (online shopping), and they only buy potatoes before the 9th at home, and they eat potatoes. That’s the only vegetable.”
