Named Proud to Be, the action of Converse All Star features an entire line of shoes in honor of Pride Month 2023, starring Grammy winner Big Freedia. She is joined by singer-songwriter Eva Westphal, London artist Yeliz Aifoglu and multidisciplinary creative Xavier ‘Internet X’ Means.
Converse recognizes the queer community as limitless — representing a full spectrum of liberating experiences, unafraid of diversity. In order to celebrate the many people who make up the group, each silhouette in the Pride 2023 collection features a different aesthetic look, designed to complement any style, no matter how you choose to express yourself.
The collection represents progress as the silhouettes are linked by the Progress Pride flag, which is represented on the configuration of each featured shoe.
Proudly designed by Converse LGBTQIAP+ employees and allies, the brand also acted on community feedback to offer a wider range of sizing options.
The Run Star Legacy has a rainbow-colored sole that also complements, in small details, the textured twill upper, as well as the laces. Its lightweight and bold Converse CX foam midsole ensures comfort in every step so the wearer feels good throughout the Pride party.
The Chuck 70 Plus is the tweaked version of the classic Converse setup. The split-paneled upper and outsole offer different canvases in vibrant rainbow colors.
The Chuck 70 Pride also carries the colors of the flag more discreetly in its details on the textured twill upper, just like the Run Star Legacy, but keeping the traditional look. The stripes that surround the pair are colored by the rainbow, reinforcing the honored theme.
The Converse Pride Chuck Taylor All Star Lift highlights the pride flag with a remixed version of the brand’s famous star patch on the side of the shoe. Off-patterned stripes and a confetti-print sole highlight the pair’s dimensions that make it unique and extraordinary.
The Chuck Taylor All Star gets a outfit that translates Pride Month energy into its classic silhouette. Reworking the ankle patch, which is colored in the colors of the flag, and the shoe’s upper panels are split to serve as new canvases for the rainbow.
The Chuck 70 De Luxe Heel is for those who are proud to shine and turn heads. With layers of glitter and a voluminous heel, the model draws attention on the streets. The colors are spot on on the split All Star patch, the pair’s back tag, and sole, and are produced in inclusive sizes showing that everyone can wear Pride shoes.
