Vietnam will extend the strict control measures of Covid-19 in force in Ho Chi Minh city, where most of the infections linked to the latest pandemic wave are recorded until next August 1. This was announced by the municipality in a statement. “Due to the rapid and unpredictable nature of the Delta variant and in order to protect people and minimize deaths, the city authorities have decided to strengthen a series of measures to control the epidemic”, the document reads.
According to the newspaper “Tuoi Tre”, the number of activities allowed in the city will be reduced: banking and financial services will be reduced to minimum levels and all unnecessary construction projects will be suspended. Already under the current measures, in force since last July 9, citizens are invited to stay at home, they cannot gather in more than two and cannot use public transport services. Since last April, since the last wave of infections began, Vietnam has imposed strict restrictions on movement in about a third of its 63 cities and provinces, including the capital Hanoi.
