Czech Republic, a cable car falls without passengers: an employee of the plant dies

by admin

PRAGUE – A person died after a cable car crashed in Jested, a mountainous area in the north of Czech Republic. The local press reports, quoting a spokesperson for the local rescue services. A second cabin, on which other people were traveling, remained at the departure station. A transport worker died, no one else was injured, but some passengers were in shock.

The cabin of the cable car fell one day before the closure of the lift for the five-year overhaul. It has been in operation since 1933 and was completely redone in the 1970s. An investigation has been opened on the causes of the accident.

The cable car, which rises to a thousand meters, uses two cabins, each operated by a staff member. “A cabin fell as it got out. There was a person inside who unfortunately died of his injuries,” spokesman Michael Georgiev told Czech television. “Fortunately, the other cabin remained in its normal place, about 15 people were evacuated, they should be without injuries, they just suffered a shock,” he said.
