Deeply mourning the loss of Kevin Holdener

by admin

Dear ski fans, winter friends and acquaintances

We, the Holdener family, have never found a message as difficult as this one:

In the early morning of February 22nd, Kevin, my brother, confidant and manager, my parents’ son, brother of Steve and husband of Carmen, passed away at the age of just 34. Kevin was 20 years old when he was diagnosed with a rare and complex form of cancer, which was a difficult ordeal for him and our entire family. Cancer thwarted Kevin’s dream of having his own skiing career. But Kevin impressed us with his will to survive and his love of life; he bravely stood up to the disease and was able to gain a few more valuable years of life from it.

Unfortunately, his superpowers have now diminished. In the presence of his family, Kevin began his final journey after a long illness that he endured with dignity. We miss him a lot now.

Kevin’s death tears our hearts apart and leaves a gap in our family and community that will never be filled. We are incredibly sad. We ask you to remember Kevin fondly – and to give us time.

Your Wendy

Swiss-Ski and the entire snow sports community offer their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and wish them a lot of strength in these difficult hours. All of us who knew Kevin will cherish his memory.
