Draghi to the EU: “Acting on common defense, we don’t have time”

Italy reaffirms its firm membership of NATO but the withdrawal from Afghanistan requires the EU to reflect on the future of international relations and European defense. Prime Minister Mario Draghi said this during the working dinner of the EU summit in Slovenia, opening the discussion after Ursula Von Der Leyen’s speech on energy issues and defense policy. “We don’t have time,” Draghi told European partners, asking the Commission to produce a document on Europe’s common perspectives on these issues.
