An earthquake hit the north east of Japan, touching the areas most affected by the 2011 disaster and generating a tsunami about one meter high. The earthquake occurred in Miyagi prefecture and had a magnitude of 7.2, the Japanese Meteorological Agency said.
National public radio has urged the population to avoid going to the affected areas.

The national power company said it found no irregularities in the Fukushima-Daiichi nuclear plant, the Daini plant and the Co’sOnagawa plant.
Blackouts are in progress in Miyagi prefecture and the TohukoShinkansen high-speed train has been stopped.
The quake was also felt in Tokyo, about 400 km south of the epicenter.
