Jose Arnoldo Amaya, 63 and referee for 20, was killed in San Salvador. The assault during a football match, the death occurred in the hospital due to the serious injuries sustained. According to what was reported by the local media, news later reported by a press release from the “Rights Office”, arose due to a red card during an amateur match at the Toluca stadium in Miramonte.
The teammates of the expelled player lost their heads and lashed out at the referee, who was also attacked by fans from the stands who poured onto the pitch. The man was injured so badly that he required immediate transport to the hospital in Zacamil, where, however, the doctors could only find internal bleeding which proved to be lethal. In a statement, the El Salvador Football Federation harshly condemned the attack, while the local police have not yet disclosed more detailed information on the affair.
