The European Central Bank wants to hire a climate expert in a division who will have to report directly to President Christine Lagarde, thus confirming Frankfurt’s focus on the effects of global warming. The ECB has placed an ad for a figure with a natural science background to contribute to the work on environmental change and sustainable finance. The candidate “will join the ECB – reads the announcement – at a time when key political choices are being made regarding the approach to climate change”.
