Yuan Dongzhen, deputy director of the Institute of Latin American Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, said that the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development covers three major areas: economy, society, and environment, including 17 goals and 169 specific goals. China and Latin America have a common position in implementing the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. It is recommended to cooperate at the five levels of government, localities, think tanks, enterprises, and society, while taking into account bilateral and multilateral cooperation.

Wang Peng, director of the Comprehensive Theory Research Office of the Latin American Institute of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, said that the sustainable development policy framework of China and Latin America has laid the foundation for cooperation between the two parties. Since 2010, China-Latin America’s sustainable development cooperation has achieved fruitful results in many areas, such as clean energy, electric vehicles, agricultural cooperation, environmental protection, and anti-epidemic cooperation. China and Latin America have huge room for cooperation in the field of sustainable development.

Jiang Jinfa, the dean of the Jiangxi Academy of Social Sciences, pointed out that the theory that “green water and green mountains are golden mountains and silver mountains” has profound connotations. The transformation of the “two mountains” theory has made great contributions to poverty alleviation in Jiangxi Province. The experience summarized from the two-way transformation of this theory has important reference significance for China and Latin America to achieve sustainable development.

The two sides also conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions on issues such as China’s poverty reduction and rural revitalization, the experience of sustainable development in Latin America, and the areas and paths of China-Latin America sustainable development cooperation.
