Family kidnapped in Mali, the sister: “My brother Rocco was happy and calm, he was fine there”

On Thursday night the tranquility of a family was upset by a gang of gunmen in Mali who kidnapped them and took them away in a Toyota off-road vehicle. “He was very happy, he had moved to Mali because there was a good life there and even the climate, with the dry heat, was favorable”: this is how Anna Maria Langone – Rocco’s sister, kidnapped in Mali with his wife and son – replied to the Radio Rai newspaper of Basilicata which reached her at her home in Ruoti (Potenza). The three kidnapped in the African country are Rocco Langone, aged 64, his wife, Maria Donata Caivano (known as Donatella), aged 63, who have been living in Triuggio (Monza Brianza) for years, and their son, Giovanni Langone, aged 42, resident in Lissone (Monza Brianza). Anna Maria Langone told the journalist Manuela Mele that she had heard her brother by telephone «a fortnight ago. He was delighted, ”she added. “My other brother had heard him on the phone the night before the kidnapping and he was very calm, but the kidnappers were already behind his door.
