However, although it is very common to confuse the terms infatuation and love, according to the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), science has a way of being able to differentiate them without many complications because, they say, it is relatively easy to find what makes them different.

The first of them is a social construct where those involved try to make the other happy, sometimes no matter what, and the need arises to remember and reaffirm the feelings they have for the other. On the other hand, in the case of true love it is a “stable and mature feeling where both are in charge of their own happiness”, but there is support and contribution from the other.

Another characteristic of falling in love is that it generates an increase in heart and respiratory rate, which in turn can cause people to blush.

One of the most marked differences is the duration; falling in love can last from three to seven months and “love” can last more than a year.

There are some cases of romantic relationships in which one of the two involved in the courtship, and even in marriage, seems to wake up and suddenly no longer have the same feelings towards their partner. As a result, many people constantly wonder how long love lasts.

And this is where science sought to have an answer in this regard; However, there is no way to determine how long the two phases can last, whether it is called falling in love or true love, because it is different for each person and depending on what happens between them, the end of it can be brought forward or postponed. However, according to UNAM, the average feeling of “love” lasts 7 years.
