First flight with migrants from UK to Rwanda suspended. The UK government: let’s move on

After the European Court of Human Rights, faced with last-minute appeals, decided the suspension of the disputed flight that was supposed to leave on Tuesday evening to forcibly transfer a group of migrants from the United Kingdom to Rwanda, the government of Boris Johnson decided not to give up.
“We will not be discouraged from doing the right thing and from implementing our plans to control the borders of our country,” said Interior Minister Priti Patel, adding that the government’s legal team is “reviewing every decision taken on this flight ”, and that“ preparations for the next flight are starting now ”.

For its part, the government of Rwanda said it was still committed to welcoming asylum seekers who should be sent from the UK. “We are not discouraged by the latest developments,” said Kigali spokeswoman Yolande Makolo. Rwanda remains firmly committed to making this collaboration work. We are ready to receive migrants when they arrive and to offer them security and opportunities in our country “.
