● Gordouang Lighthouse, France

When the UNESCO World Heritage Committee announced today that it was listed as a World Heritage Site, it said that the lighthouse was in “extremely unobstructed and harsh environment.”
This lighthouse was designed by the famous engineer Louis de Foix and was rebuilt by Joseph Teulere at the end of the 18th century.
The World Heritage Committee described this lighthouse as “a masterpiece of nautical signals” and said, “It embodies a great stage in the history of lighthouse architecture and craftsmanship. Art allows the lighthouse to play its important role in territorial marking and security tools at that time.”
● Hima rock paintings in Saudi Arabia
The Hima petroglyphs in the southwest of Saudi Arabia are among the largest in the world. They are located on the route of the ancient Arab caravan. Cultural relics including rock inscriptions and wells can be seen at more than 34 locations along the way.
The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) pointed out that Hima is a trade channel for caravans and a pilgrimage route to and from southern Arabia. “People who passed through this area from prehistoric to post-historical periods left behind a huge number of rock art depicting hunting. , Wildlife, plants, and the symbols and tools used at the time, not to mention thousands of inscriptions.”
The site covers an area of 557 square kilometers. According to the Saudi News Agency, the local well has a history of more than 3,000 years and is an important source of water in the large deserts of Najran Province. It continues to provide fresh water to this day.
● European SPA health resort
Several spa towns in Europe have been added to the list of highly regarded World Heritage Sites today. UNESCO called these towns “excellent witnesses of the European spa phenomenon” from the 18th century to the 1930s.
The towns in the joint declaration include Baden bei Wien in Austria; Spa in Belgium; Karlovy Vary, Frantiskovy Lazne and Marianske Lazne in the Czech Republic ); France (Vichy); Germany (Bad Ems), Baden-Baden (Baden-Baden) and Bad Kissingen (Bad Kissingen); Italy (Montecatini Terme); United Kingdom Bath.
The World Heritage Committee said that this group of European hot spring cities are included in the “hundreds of spa cities that have created the most fashionable, vibrant and cosmopolitan spa cities in Europe”.
“Although each hot spring town is different, each one developed from a mineral spring, catalyzing a spatial organization model dedicated to medicine, treatment, entertainment and social functions.”
● Mathilde Heights in Darmstad, Germany
