For Kate a pearl and diamond necklace on loan from Queen Elizabeth

by admin

Pearls are said to bring tears. What better symbol to wear then at the funeral of a loved one or an important figure. And the necklace elegantly worn by Kate Middleton, wife of Prince William, to attend the farewell ceremony to Philip of Edinburgh in St. George Chapel in Windsor this afternoon was made of pearls and diamonds.

It is a jewel with a history and therefore also with a meaning. It is a necklace that belongs to Queen Elizabeth and that her Majesty had lent in the past to Lady Diana on the occasion of a dinner organized by Queen Beatrix of Holland, in 1982.

The necklace was donated to Elizabeth II of the Japanese government and for Kate today was not the first opportunity to show off the precious jewel. The Duchess had in fact also worn it four years ago, in 2017, for the celebrations of the 70th wedding anniversary of the Queen and Prince Philip at Windsor Castle.

For the funeral of the prince consort, the important necklace accompanied Kate’s total-black outfit (signed Roland Mouret), embellished with a hat with a veil.
