Former South Korean President Chun Doo-hwan dies in Seoul-Shangbao Indonesia

On the 23rd local time, former South Korean President Chun Doo-hwan died in Seoul at the age of 90.

According to Korean media reports, at about 8:40 local time on the 23rd, Quan Dou-hwan died in his private house in Yeonxi-dong, Seodaemun District, Seoul. The police and the fire department received the police at 8:55, and the police confirmed that Quan Douhuan was dead at 9:12. According to Secretary Quan Doo-hwan, Quan Doo-hwan’s body will be transferred to the Severance Hospital of Yonsei University Medical Hospital, but the place of burial after cremation has not yet been determined.

Statistics show that Quan Dou was born on January 23, 1931, and served as the 11th and 12th president of South Korea from 1980 to 1988. In 1996, Quan Douhuan was prosecuted on suspicion of military rebellion. He was sentenced to death in the first instance and was later commuted to life imprisonment. In December 1997, Chun Doo-hwan received an amnesty from President-elect Kim Dae-jung and was released in early 1998. In July 2013, Quan Douhuan was ransacked to repay the stolen money.

Chun Dou-hwan was filed a non-detention lawsuit on May 3, 2018 for allegedly harming the deceased’s reputation in his memoirs published in 2017. On August 9, 2021, Quan Doo-hwan appeared in the Gwangju District Court on the honour case, but he left the court midway due to physical discomfort 25 minutes after the trial began.
