Germany, Ikea advertises an armchair with a photo of a Merkel lookalike: “Finally home”

by admin

A look-alike of Angela Merkel sitting comfortably and the words “finally home”. It is an advertisement for an Ikea armchair published by Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and from southgerman newspaper today, on the day of the oath of the new chancellor. The stand-in, very similar to the Chancellor, seen in profile, sits in an armchair in a relaxing background, between a candle and a window.

The company’s publicity stunt comes on the day when, after 16 years at the helm of the country, Merkel leaves the role of chancellor for good. Germany will be ruled by center-left leader Olaf Scholz, who on Wednesday was sworn in as the ninth chancellor of Germany after World War II.
