The court in Koblenz, Germany, sentenced to life imprisonment Anwar Raslan |, an officer of the Syrian secret services accused of complicity in the torture of at least 4 thousand detainees between 2011 and 2012 in section 251 of the secret services, in Damascus, known as al Khatib branch: in at least 58 cases, the torture led to the death of the detainees . This is the first sentence against a prominent Syrian regime officer: a verdict that will pave the way for the persecution of the crimes committed by the regime in Syria from 2011 – the beginning of the popular uprising which later resulted in civil war – to today.
