Green light to the Recovery fund from the German Constitutional Court. Appeal rejected

by admin

Green light for the Next Generation EU in Germany. The German Constitutional Court rejected the urgent reminder against the Recovery Fund presented by Bernd Lucke, founder of the far-right AfD party and others, with an action aimed at blocking the issuance of common debt.

The decision of the Court was awaited, urged by a loud voice in Europe and in Germany with a timely process, to avoid slowing down the path of European ratifications to the 750 billion euro fund for post-Covid economic recovery.

The green light of the German constitutionalists allows the President of the Federal Republic Frank-Walter Steinmeier to sign the national law, already passed on March 25 by the Bundestag with a two-thirds majority and the next day by the Bundesrat, and thus conclude the path of implementation of the new European instrument.

The court, in a statement issued this morning, ruled that there is no “high probability of violation” after a first summary examination, with seven out of eight judges dismissing the appeal, a request for urgent suspension that was not “Clearly unfounded”. This decision will be followed – with undefined timing – by a definitive examination by the Court and a more in-depth verdict, but along the same lines, without surprises.
