[Voice of Hope August 23, 2021]The German Bundeswehr said on Twitter on the 23rd that the Afghan security forces and the attackers had an exchange of fire at the north gate of Kabul Airport, and the US and German forces were also involved in the fighting. Currently, 1 dead and 3 injured are known.

Reuters reported that the German military pointed out that the Afghan security forces, unidentified gunmen, German and US forces were involved in the gun battle. A member of the Afghan security forces was killed and three others were injured. However, the German army did not specify whether the deceased was a Taliban militant who had been sent to guard outside the airport.

The Bundeswehr only emphasized that no German soldiers were injured, but did not explain the reason for the exchange of fire.

There is no further information, and it is not yet known who the attacker was.

After the extremist militant group Taliban seized power last week, thousands of Afghans rushed to Kabul International Airport to try to escape. The British military confirmed on the 22nd that seven Afghan civilians had died in the chaotic push at Kabul Airport. At present, Kabul Airport is closed. The United States has requested six civil aviation companies to assist in the evacuation operation, and Japan will also send military aircraft to evacuate overseas Chinese.

Taliban members who guarded checkpoints around the airport shot into the air to disperse the crowd, using whips and rifle butts to repel them, including some American citizens.

The Taliban also opened fire on protesters in several cities and went door-to-door to search for people who cooperated with the US military. The Taliban have caused several casualties so far.

Reuters reported that Britain has planned to urge leaders of various countries to consider new sanctions against the Taliban when discussing the Afghan crisis at the G7 video conference on the 24th.
