Three prominent figures in the pro-democracy movement in Hong Kong, including media mogul Jimmy Lai, were convicted on charges related to last year’s Tiananmen massacre vigil.
Jimmy Lai, 74, owner of the now closed Apple Daily newspaper, was convicted of illegal assembly and with him also former journalist Gwyneth Ho and human rights lawyer Chow Hang-tung. After the ruling, the court withdrew and the hearing adjourned for 45 minutes. The penalties have not yet been disclosed.
