In New York, 750 soldiers will be placed in subway stations to ensure safety

The governor of New York, Kathy Hochul, announced that starting this week 750 members of the National Guard, the main reservist force of the US military, will be placed in the most crowded stations of the New York subway to ensure their safety. The 750 officers will help the police in managing order and will check the bags of those who frequent the metro stations.

Hochul said he decided to strengthen security at the stations following an increase in cases of attacks on commuters and people working in the transport sector. For the same reasons, last month New York Mayor Eric Adams increased patrols at stations, adding around a thousand police officers.
