FLY. McDonald’s prices fly online in Russia after the company’s decision to close some 850 restaurants as a sign of protest against “the unnecessary human suffering that is occurring in Ukraine.”
A meal in the famous chain can now cost 7,500 Russian rubles, equivalent to around 60 euros: two hamburgers, two drinks and a cherry pie. Restaurant bill for a meal McDonald’s loyal customers have been able to find through Avito, a Russian auction site similar to eBay, which is now betting on making money off otherwise unavailable food. Other snacks included a cherry pie for our 12 euros, and a sachet of cheese sauce priced at 1,000 rubles, about 8 euros.
