[NTD, Beijing, January 23, 2022]According to data released by the Indian government today (23), the number of new infections of the Chinese Communist Party (COVID-19) in the past 24 hours was 333,533, although this was higher than the previous day’s 33. The number of 7,704 cases was slightly lower, but it was the fourth consecutive day that more than 300,000 new cases were diagnosed in a single day.

According to government data, India reported 525 deaths from the disease in the past 24 hours and 488 deaths on the 22nd.

India’s federal government said it had tested 1.87 million people in the past 24 hours and plans to continue expanding the scale of testing across the country.

India’s health ministry said the country’s total death toll from the coronavirus had reached 489,409. The government said in a statement that the current recovery rate for those infected is 93.18%.

In order to curb the wave of confirmed diagnoses caused by the Omicron variant, since the beginning of this year, various parts of India have been restricted by different levels of epidemic prevention measures; the capital Delhi government also decided on the 21st to continue to implement a weekend curfew.
