India, Muslim women auctioned online: “They want to silence us”

DELHI – They used the word Sulli, the Hindu derogatory term to define Muslim women of easy virtue to create an online auction: “Find your Sulli deal of the day”. At least 90 Muslim women, including journalists, artists and activists, found themselves “auctioned” via an Internet app, now removed. An abuse that has outraged the country, triggering a series of complaints now being examined by the police.
