Indonesia’s cumulative number of confirmed cases of new crown exceeds 2 million, tightening public activity restrictions

The data also shows that as of the 21st, Indonesia has accumulated nearly 55,000 deaths from the new crown, and a total of 1.8 million have been cured. Recently, Indonesia has notified more than 10,000 new confirmed cases every day for several consecutive days, and the impact of a large number of returnees and gatherings during the Eid al-Fitr festival in May began to appear. The mutated new crown virus detected in the capital Jakarta, Central Java, and East Java has accelerated the spread of the epidemic.
The Indonesian government announced on the 21st that it will further tighten restrictions on public activities. Indonesia’s New Crown Epidemic Prevention and Control and National Economic Recovery Committee Chairman Erlanga said that in the most severely affected areas marked in red, at least 75% of corporate employees should work from home, schools, art centers and religious sites must be closed, supermarkets, and places of worship must be closed. The number of visitors in public places such as shopping malls, restaurants, coffee shops, etc. shall not exceed 25% of their capacity.
Indonesia is making every effort to speed up the new crown vaccination. President Joko’s goal is to achieve 1 million doses per day in early July. The Jakarta Capital Territory requires 100,000 people to be vaccinated against the new crown every day starting this week. The Indonesian government plans to vaccinate 70% of the country’s population, or 181.5 million people, by March next year.
According to statistics from the Indonesian Ministry of Health, as of the 21st, nearly 12.4 million people in the country have completed two doses of the new crown vaccine, and more than 23.53 million people have received one dose of the vaccine.
