by admin

Mas d’en Gil is located in the Priorat wine-producing region of Catalonia, Spain. It is one of the oldest wineries in the region. The Magill Manor was founded in 1860 by Francesc Gil (Francesc Gil). In the past century and a half, the winery has been traded in the hands of three families. After the death of the founder Jill in 1885, the winery was taken care of by his descendants. In 1930, the Gil family sold the winery to the Barril family. The Barril family changed the name of the winery to Masia Barril (Masia Barril) and managed it for more than half a century. By 1998, the winery was acquired by the Rovira Carbonell Family. The Rovira family admired the history and culture of the winery very much, so they adopted the first name of the winery “Magi”. Currently, the winery industry is managed by Marta Rovira Carbonell, the youngest daughter of the old Rovira. The climate type of Magill Manor is Mediterranean, which is very suitable for growing grapes. The vineyards of the winery cover an area of about 135 hectares of land, and the planting scale is quite large. The vineyards are located at an average elevation of 350 meters, with warm sea breeze blowing across the north and southeast sides. The soil type of the vineyard is limestone, and the soil layer is thin. The main red grape varieties grown in the garden are Grenache and Carignan; the white grape varieties are Grenache Blanc and Viognier. In 2005, the winery introduced a biodynamic planting method. Since then, the quality of grapes produced in the vineyard has become higher and higher. The wine produced by this winery truly reflects the terroir of the vineyard and has a clear taste. Most of the red wines launched by Margier Estate are blended from Grenache and Carignan. Among the wines launched by the winery, the 1998 and 2004 super old vine blended dry red wines are of high quality, comparable to Burgundy super garden wines. The wines of this winery have been sold to more than 40 overseas markets and are well received by consumers everywhere.
