On November 19, in the now arid riverbed that made the elegant Isfahan rich, the city of gardens in the middle of the desert, there was the largest environmental protest in Iranian history. Thousands of people marched up the river, under the historic Khaju Bridge, to ask for the most precious commodity, water, to be returned to the city.
