Iran seizes foreign oil tanker: “It smuggled diesel”

by admin

TEHRAN – The Iranian Navy reported having kidnapped in Persian Gulf a foreign ship smuggling diesel fuel. The media reported in Tehran, citing Colonel Hajian according to which “after an inspection, more than 150,000 liters of smuggled diesel were discovered”.

The 11 crew members were stopped for questioning, he added, without indicating their nationality or when the kidnapping was carried out.

Colonel Haijan praised “the intelligence services” of Teheran who acted in a “coordinated operation”. In recent times there has been a series of attacks on ships in the waters of the Gulf, through which a large part of the world’s energy supply routes pass. On 10 November, the Guardians of the Revolution announced the release of the Vietnamese oil tanker Sothys which they had seized on 24 October in the Gulf of Oman.
