Iran’s transportation sector continues to suffer cyber attacks

by admin

The Iranian transportation department continued to suffer cyber attacks and the train service was temporarily interrupted.

Iran’s state-run television station said that the computer system used by employees of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development suffered a “cyber breach” on Saturday (July 10), causing the department’s website to be unable to provide computer terminals and semi-computers. End service.

Iranian TV did not say who was believed to have launched the attack, nor did it say whether anyone made any blackmail requests.

A day ago, the Iranian State Railway Company was also apparently subjected to a cyber attack. Iranian state media reported that the attack caused the train service to be interrupted on Friday, and the hackers were able to display false delay notices on the train station signs. The government-run railway company stated that only the display screen was affected and the train was operating normally.

Iran’s Minister of Communications, Mohammad Javad Azari-Jahromi, warned on Saturday that unless weaknesses in computer systems are addressed, they may be subject to ransomware attacks.

Iran said at the end of 2020 that hackers launched a large-scale attack on two government agencies, but did not provide details or suspects.

Iran says it is highly vigilant against cyber attacks. Iran has accused the United States and Israel of launching cyber attacks in the past. The United States and other Western countries also accused Iran of trying to sabotage and gain access to their computer networks.
