Italy frees Catalan leader Puigdemont: no extradition to Spain

SASSARI – “I’m very happy”, he said in Italian – in a calm tone – when he left the Sassari Court of Appeal in the early afternoon. No extradition for Carles Puigdemont, the former Catalan president arrested ten days ago at Alghero airport and released the next day. Once again he is free to return to Belgium, where he lives in exile.
