by admin

For Libya “it was a tough decade and we need the support of all countries, not just Italy, even if Italy is a partner, a brother country”. This was stated by the Libyan premier, Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, speaking at the plenary session of the business forum ‘The new Libya introduces itself to Italian companies’, underway at the Farnesina. Italy and Libya “have always cooperated historically, Eni is one of our largest oil partners”, added the premier, “but also in terms of infrastructure, the relationship with Italy is very strong and we are sorry that trade has dropped, our goal is to increase it. We need to rebuild schools, hospitals, infrastructures, we want to return to the production of 3-4 million barrels a day and relaunch sectors of the economy. And the best partner is you ».

The premier also touched on the thorny issue of migrants: “We believe that the support that Italy and the European Union provide ‘with regard to the management of illegal migration is’ very important, and this was reiterated in several meetings that took place with representatives of the Italian government, but also at the European level ”.

“I thank Italy for keeping the embassy in Tripoli open, together with the consulate in Tobruk,” concluded Abdul Hamid Dbeibah. “Now the consulate in Benghazi will also be reactivated and this is a positive point for Italy, which must be highly appreciated”.
