It’s time for the Far East Film Festival: the twenty-sixth edition officially opens on Wednesday 24 April!

IT’S TIME FOR CINEMA, IT’S TIME FOR ASIA,

IT’S TIME FOR THE EAST FILM FESTIVAL!

The twenty-sixth starts on Wednesday 24 April

edition: 79 titles selected in 12 countries.

They will receive the Golden Mulberries for Lifetime Achievement on stage

of the Teatro Nuovo of Udine the historic producer

Chiu Fu-sheng e il leggendario Zhang Yimou.

The countdown has almost stopped ticking: after a long wait, the international spotlight is about to turn on the Far East Film Festival 26 and Udine is about to transform, once again, into the largest Asian epicenter in Europe! Wednesday 24 April, at 7.30 pm, the curtain of the Teatro Nuovo “Giovanni da Udine” will officially open on Opening Night 2024: two great titles on the program, the Chinese super blockbuster YOLO and the irresistible South Korean action comedy Citizen of a Kind , and an equally great “preface” at 5.00 pm, that is, the restoration of the cult South Korean crime film Nowhere to Hide.

Until Thursday 2 May, FEFF 26 will present 79 selected films in 12 countries (12 world premieres, 22 international premieres, 23 European premieres and 19 Italian premieres). 9 days of full immersion into the popular soul of the Far East, 9 days of cinema (screenings from morning to night, meetings, divas and divas on the red carpet) and, in parallel, 9 days of Far East Film Events, around a hundred of “themed” events scattered throughout the city center (markets, workshops, martial arts performances, show cooking, without obviously forgetting the Far East Cosplay Contest on May 1st).

The Golden Mulberry for Lifetime Achievement will be awarded on 29 April to the historic producer Chiu Fu-sheng and on 2 May to a legend like Zhang Yimou (remember Red Lanterns, Vivere! and Hero?), also protagonist of an unmissable masterclass open to everyone, and the program will, as always, range across genres, documenting the best of recent productions and, with two important retrospectives at the Visionario, the most significant works of the past.

As the vast Fareastian community knows well, the FEFF is an absolutely unique experience. An exciting collective, friendly and informal ritual, shared by tens of thousands of people arriving from the four corners of the planet. A lot of time has passed since 10 April 1999, the day it all began, and FEFF 26 can’t wait to tell a thousand new stories to those who want to listen to them…
