The host team reaches the final of the Cup after having fired its coach in the group stage, and faced with this situation, the locals ended up beating Senegal, Mali, and recently Congo in the semifinals in the knockout stages.
The African team will seek to win its third African Cup of Nations, after the Ivorian team had lifted the title in 1992 and 2015.
The super eagles came to this event as one of the favorites to win the title, and on this occasion, they did not have to suffer too much in the previous phases to reach the grand final. Napoli striker Victor Oshimen’s team beat countries like Cameroon, Angola, and South Africa.
The Nigerian team will seek its fourth African Cup of Nations title, after having won in 1980, 1994 and 2013.
This will be the second time that Ivory Coast and Nigeria meet in this edition of the African Cup, after the Super Eagles won 1-0 in the group stage on the second date of the tournament.
