Jordan, Prince Hamzah to the BBC: “They are under house arrest”

by admin

Hamzah bin Hussein, former crown prince and half-brother of Jordan’s king Abdullah II, is under house arrest but rejects the charges. In a video released by the BBC, Hamzah himself says he “received a visit this morning from the chief of staff of the Jordanian armed forces who informed me that I was not allowed to go out, communicate with people or meet people”.

Hamzah allegedly took part in some events in which “criticism of the government or the king” was leveled, although he was not accused of criticizing himself. “I am not the person responsible for the collapse of governance, corruption and incompetence that has been prevalent in our governance structure for the past 15-20 years and I am not responsible for the lack of trust people have in their institutions”, yes defends in the video published by the BBC.
