Kabul, explosions at the airport: “Suicide attack, at least 13 dead including children”

by admin

Already yesterday a terrorist attack by ISIS was feared and this afternoon one or perhaps two explosions killed at least 13 people inside the Kabul airport, among them were children according to the Taliban spokesman.

The news of a suicide bomber who allegedly blew himself up near the Gate Abbey of the international airport was confirmed by the Pentagon spokesman. Turkish sources speak instead of two different explosions. What is certain is that in the images on Twitter the wounded taken away with the help of carioles or with arms seem to be numerous. Among the wounded there are, according to many American media, also three US soldiers. Overall, there are 5,200 US soldiers at the Kabul airport, about to return to the US.

Access to the area, managed by the military of the US contingent, is forbidden. Biden calls security, is constantly updated on the situation.

Media, Karzai and Abdullah under house arrest
All while within the future government of the Taliban there are considerable shocks. According to a source to CNN, in fact, at the moment the former Afghan president Karzai and the former deputy of his successor Ashraf Ghani, Abdullah Abdullah, are under house arrest, without bodyguards and at the mercy of the Taliban. The two were to be part, together with the Taliban leader Abdul Ghani Baradar, of the 12-member council that will govern Afghanistan. The Taliban, according to the source reported by CNN, first confiscated weapons and means of transport from Karzai’s armed escort and then forced him to move to Abdullah. The latter’s home was previously searched, placed under surveillance and the tenants were deprived of their vehicles. They would therefore not be allowed to make any displacements. Karzai and Abdullah find themselves “locked” inside the house without security agents and controlled by the Taliban. Thus, their entry into an enlarged and inclusive government, as initially hinted at by the Afghan Islamic extremist movement, seems further away.

Meanwhile, after the Taliban’s takeover in Afghanistan, Russia has received new orders for armaments and helicopters from Central Asian countries. “We are already working on several orders from countries in the region for supplies of Russian helicopters, firearms and modern border protection systems,” Aleksander Mikheev, head of the state holding Rosoboronexport, which deals with exports, told Ria Novosti of armaments.
